contemporary exressionism sunset by Mimi Rossi

Acrylic on Canvas
Embellished with wire and metal brackets
24″ x 12″

We all walked out of the restaurant to watch an absolutely beautiful sunset at the beach. As I was soaking it in, I was slightly distracted by the rooftops and telephone pole wires. Even so, the beauty of Mother Nature’s glorious display recaptured my eye.

From my peripheral vision I could see others whipping out their cell phones not really “taking it in” but rather trying to capture it for another time, or maybe just texting. Whatever they were dong made me feel sad that there is so much beauty in the world that goes unnoticed, unappreciated because other things obstruct our view.

I am hopeful that this piece will inspire people to take a moment and pay more attention to the beauty that’s all around us.

I chose acrylic on canvas for the quickness of it (if you blink you might miss it); and the style because I feel no two people see the same thing. Beauty is interpretive. This is my interpretation of something beautiful being obstructed.
