Takaya was shot and killed by a trophy hunter in March 2020. Before that he lived his life as a lone wolf photographed and made famous by Cheryl Alexander. She studied and documented this unique wolf for years, unravelling the many mysteries surrounding his life. Her book is available for purchase.
Personally, I wish all trophy hunters would go to an Island and hunt each other to extinction.
